/ Jury / General position 

General position 

The following teams of judges will be working at the Festival

1. The Big jury

Creative directors of award-winning advertising agencies are a part of the Big jury

Structure of the Big jury

The Big jury judges following contests:

  • TV and cinema spots
  • Print
  • Outdoor posters and billboards
  • Commercial photography
  • Radio spots

Judging peculiarities:

Members of the jury work independently, don’t discuss entries, one week is scheduled for judging (not several hours), digital copies (files) of the entries are judged. Every member of the jury assesses an entry using binary code: “+” or “-“(“in” or “out”, i.e. “good” or “bad”). Hence, according to the results of the assessment every entry receives a definite number of “pluses” (“points”). Entries with 50% or more pluses are considered finalists (short-list entries).

Short-list is a result of the Big jury’s work. Entries are listed in each category according to the number of points.

Members of the Big jury may vote for entries, created with their participation.

2. The Main jury

The Main jury judges following contests:

  • TV and cinema spots
  • Print
  • Outdoor posters and billboards
  • Commercial photography
  • Radio spots

Judging peculiarities:

The Main jury is working during KIAF and is defining winners in each contest category. Members of the Main jury assess short-list entries, defined by the Big jury and cannot reassess its decisions regarding including or excluding entries from the short-list. At the same time, the Main jury is independent from the Big jury’s decisions of points distribution.

The Main jury also recognizes the best entry in contest.

The head of the Main jury is the Head 6th KIAF jury.

The Main jury may award all prizes in one or another category.

Members of the Main jury may not vote for entries, created with their participation and may not consult authors of the entries.

The jury has a right to change entry’s category and remove entry from contest if violations of rules of participation have occurred (plagiarism etc.)

Decision of the Main jury is made by the simple majority of vote. Should all votes be equal, the deciding vote is that of the head of the jury.

Decision of the Main jury, formalized by the protocol, is final.

3. Advertisers’ Jury

Structure of the advertisers’ Jury

Advertisers’ jury judges following contests:

  • DM projects
  • PR projects
  • BTL projects
  • Complex advertising campaigns
  • Alternative advertising

Judging peculiarities:

Work of this team of judges is divided into 3 stages. During the first stage members of the jury receive all contest entries and get familiar them independently during 10 days. As result each member of the jury gets personal idea of each entry. During the second stage members discuss entries on a special meeting. A short-list of each contest is a result of such a meeting. The third judging stage takes place during the Festival. Members of the jury listen to public presentations and define prize winners. Decision of the advertisers’ Jury is made by the simple majority of vote. Should all votes be equal, the deciding vote is that of the head of the jury.

Decision of the jury, formalized by the protocol, is final.

4. Designers’ Jury

Designers’ jury judges the following contests:

  • Graphic design and POS materials
  • Packaging

Judging peculiarities:

Work of this team of judges is divided into 2 stages. During the first stage members of the jury work independently for one week, don’t discuss entries and assess entries using digital copies. Every member of the jury assesses an entry using binary code: “+” or “-“. According to the results of the assessment every entry receives a definite number of “pluses” (“points”). Entries with 50% or more pluses are considered finalists (short-list entries). The second judging stage takes place during the Festival. Members of the jury decide on prize winners and contest winners during a joint meeting after reviewing physical (hardcopy) short-list (according to the first stage) entries.

5. Architects’ Jury

Architects’ jury judges the following contests:

  • Outdoor
  • Expositional design

Judging peculiarities:

Work of this team of judges is divided into 2 stages. During the first stage members of the jury work independently for one week, don’t discuss entries and assess entries using digital copies. Every member of the jury assesses an entry using binary code: “+” or “-“. According to the results of the assessment every entry receives a definite number of “pluses” (“points”). Entries with 50% or more pluses are considered finalists (short-list entries). The second judging stage takes place during the Festival. 6. Internet jury

Judging peculiarities:

All entries are judged on-line, judges vote during two stages. During the first stage jury receive all entries and get familiar with them for 10 days. As result each member of the jury gets personal idea of each entry. Entries are discussed exclusively via e-mail. A short-list of the contest is a result of the first stage. The second stage of the judging takes place during the Festival. Members of the jury listen to public presentations and define prize winners.

7. Media jury

8. Professional press jury

Structure of the professional press jury

The jury is working during the Festival. This team defines one winner in TV spot contest and one winner in print contest.
